ARM Motorsports F25/F26 X3/X4 28i/35i FMIC

The ARM Motorsports F25/F26 X3/X4 FMIC is a direct-fit front mount intercooler (FMIC) upgrade for the BMW X3 and X4 xDrive28i and xDrive35i models. A common limitation on these vehicles is the stock intercooler, which struggles to keep intake air temperatures (IATs) low when increasing boost, especially with Stage 1 or Stage 2+ tunes. As the turbo boosts higher, the air coming out of the turbo becomes hotter, raising IATs. To prevent the ECU from reducing boost, timing, and power to protect the engine, a more effective cooling solution is needed. The ARM FMIC helps keep your IATs low, maximizing the performance of your N20/N55 engine.

The ARM F25/F26 FMIC is designed with a 120% larger frontal area than the OEM intercooler, offering superior cooling performance. With a core size of 20x11x3" and a volume of 660 cubic inches, this FMIC is 36% larger than the stock N55 intercooler, which has only 425 cubic inches. The ultra-dense 14 fins per inch external core helps to provide the best cooling performance possible while minimizing the pressure drop.

The larger frontal area of the ARM FMIC improves cooling by spreading the cooling surface area more effectively than thicker intercoolers, which can suffer from reduced cooling efficiency due to the increase in temperature of the ambient air as it passes through the core. The ARM FMIC maintains efficient cooling even as ambient air heats up while passing through the intercooler.

IAT Testing Results:
During testing, a baseline run on a 335i with the stock F-Series intercooler saw IATs increase by 33°F when running 16psi of boost. With the ARM FMIC installed, IATs increased by only 2°F, even with 18psi of boost, showcasing a 94% improvement in cooling performance.

Installation:
Installation of the ARM F25/F26 FMIC is a straightforward bolt-on procedure. It requires no bumper removal and minimal trimming of a small plastic piece (1x3"). The FMIC fits directly into the original stock intercooler location, and CNC connectors ensure a perfect fit with either OEM charge piping or aftermarket piping that fits the stock intercooler. The connectors are secured with 6-layer reinforced silicone couplers for a leak-free seal.
