The ARM Motorsports MK7 GTI Catted Downpipe is a must-have upgrade for enthusiasts seeking more power, faster spool, and a deeper exhaust note from their EA888 Gen 3 engine. The factory downpipe uses a dense and highly restrictive catalyst that creates excessive backpressure, slows turbo response, and limits potential gains from tuning.
Replacing the OEM downpipe with the ARM MK7 GTI Catted Downpipe dramatically improves exhaust flow, reduces backpressure, and allows the turbocharger to reach boost faster and more efficiently. The result is increased power and torque, quicker turbo response, and a noticeable improvement in exhaust tone.
The reduction in backpressure also prepares the engine for higher boost levels, making this downpipe essential for vehicles running Stage 2 or Stage 2+ tuning files. Many tuners require an upgraded downpipe to safely achieve boost targets above 25 psi, as the stock downpipe can place unnecessary stress on the turbo.
Constructed from TIG-welded T304 stainless steel, the ARM MK7 GTI Downpipe is engineered as a single-piece design to prevent leaks and ensure precise long-term fitment. The CNC-machined v-band connection supports both the included 2.5" reducer for OEM exhaust systems and the straight 3" adapter for aftermarket cat-backs. The downpipe features a single 200-cell high-flow catalyst to reduce emissions and minimize exhaust odors compared to catless systems.
A stainless steel flex section is integrated between the turbo and mid-pipe to relieve stress on the turbocharger during acceleration, cornering, and braking. With tuning, gains of up to 60whp and 105wtq are possible on the stock IS20 turbocharger.
